Down and Now Up

Good morning you. I had my down days and my internet line was like down almost for a month plus. Hopefully that would be a good reason for me to excuse my self for not updating anything for the recent weeks.

And now Ampin is back, with more positive attitude and more knowledges to be shared. Promise myself to keep going up and no more looking back and feeling down.

A friend of mine showed how dumb I was, and said that I have changed a lot.

I realised that now I guess.

So hope that life will always be better now. ( life is short )

Let me intro a bit about the club. I joined the club like 2 months back. We make TT (teh tarik) session once every 2 weeks. So far, we have organized a bowling tournament and futsal match between the members. As it is an official club (registered) to be an official member, you need to filled up form and pay RM40 per year (as for now). you will get a sticker of the club and full access to the Persona Forum. That include technical section section and others.

This is the new logo and sticker which you will receive to stick on your car (only for registered members).

For now we have 310 members from nationwide and 80% of them already registered.

The last event the club joined was entering the Sepang Drag Battle, at F1 Circuit on 5th April. All of the pictures are in the forum for you to look at. I am their official photographer and ‘jockey’ for any participating race car event at the moment.

Next event for the club is a convoy to PD trip on the 27th April. Currently 30 Persona cars will be participating on this event. We expect to get members from the Gen2Club also to join us there too. Leave me a note if you have any inquiries as I am one of the official moderators in the club.

The contestant’s name is Valentina Hasan, 29 years old. She’s from the village of Zvezdelina, in the Kardzhali Province. Valentina’s married and “Hasan” is her husband’s surname. She currently lives in Spain.

Campro Drag Battle Report

Sorry guys, you know my routine. Busy busy as always..anyway let me tell you few things that i learn during the drag race in Sepang.

1. We launch at very high rpm.

2. Controlling the clutch at that high rpm is not that easy

3. Good sets of rim and tyres is a must (which I did not modify)

Well the results as expected, I did not win. But… I had interesting experience and knowledge. I know more about racing that I thought I used to few years back.

My modification to the car used at the drag plus for future mod:

1. Drop In Filter such as K&N
2. Large Snorkel of the air filter
3. LCP (lighten crank pulley – cap itik)
4. Sparkplug Cable (standard by Proton)
5. Sparkplug (Volker Iridium from German)
6. Exhaust System – changed to custom itik exctrator which boost the gas out quicker with custom straight flow muffler from 5Zigen
7. FPR – Fuel Pressure Regulator (used standard – future mod).
8. Adj Campulley – tuned and retuned for that pickup purpose.

As you can see, looking at the modification above, it is not much that I have changed. I am dissapointed with the rim and tyres which hopefully I can change as soon as I get some cash injected. (anybody wants to sponsor?)

The timing at Sepang Circuit the other day was also disappointing, because the timing machine (believe it or not) has been down sinced 6 months back. The leader and the rest, were only 0.800 seconds and so on. But the again manual timing was implemented throughout the race. There were about 7 categories all together, ranging from turbo to non turbo track cars. Ours was special ones, as we represent street tuned car, with all baggage still intact like dashboards and seats. Left with spare tyres only to take out from the boot. The crowds was huge at least after 9pm and above. Everything was finish at around 3 am in the morning.

The ROUND 2 of the battle of the drag will be held at Sepang circuit again on the 31st May. Hope to see you guys there. I might join again insyallah.

Hey guys and girls,

Ampin is still alive okay. Got few emails from readers, asking me to update the blog etc. Well, its been busy these days, with work and life. Well probably for a start let me update you guys of my new car.

The Persona which I called Mr Pearly (because of the color?) is healthy. Im obsessed with it already (hehe). Send it for the first service the other day, which took 3 hours of my precious time and end up going to office at lunch time. Luckily my boss isnt there. Been doing some light modification to the car already. Who give the heck about warranty nowadays eh? Oh for people who have a Persona like I do, you’re invited to join the first PersonaClub, and probably be able to meet me there eh. Went for a TT gathering in Cyberjaya with them during the weekend. It was fantastic experience, to see 25 Persona in a convoy.

Apart from that, I drink a lot of nescafe. And busy with datelines at work. This week I seem to have more free time to do few things. Thank God.

Also the election day is coming up. Everybody everywhere is kutuking P a k Lah. We all know this. We just hope that God will send another smart people like Dr Mahathir to rule Malaysia again. (I missed watching him giving speech at TV). Oh and the media at RTM playing old documentary about Tun Razak, skipping Tun Mahathir straight to Pak Lah’s empire, claiming everything in Malaysia. Typical of dirty politics eh.

Anyway let politics be politics. Let life be life. Still at the end of the day, I am thankful to God for giving us good health and good economy. Like they say, we are already on the right track, we just have to continue and improve…

Petrol Price Rising Soon

I have this urge to express my sad and sigh feeling for our country and Petronas indirectly. As soon as the pilihanraya is over, the goverment will surely naik kan harga minyak again.

This time I heard probably 40 sen or 50 sen more seliter. That is a huge different. Sigh

Again, the oil per barrel used to be 50USD per barrel, and now around 100USD per barrel. Surely Petronas is making 2x the profit out of this. Why cant they use that RM Billions to help goverment to subsidised or whatever it is.

Apart from that, compared to UK or Europe countries, they price of oil there is so much EXPensive then here. If government raised 40 sen more, it will be 2.32 sen seliter soon. Now is Rm1.92. In Uk few years back, its around RM6.00 seliter okay. But their salary is off course triple triple of what we are receiving here. That is why they never complain at all.

It is like If I am the goverment of some country, I put the oil price at RM0.60 seliter, but monthly salary average RM100 only for everybody, walaupun minyak is damn cheap, still you all tak akan mampu.

Whats the logic of this?

Moi Persona Is Marvelous

Marvelous! At last the moment that I have been waiting for came. After few months of waiting, the iridescent white persona was taken from the Glenmarie showroom the other day. I took a long breath when I first saw it. I am not sure whether it is the color of the car or something, but probably it could be love at first sight.

These one and half day, I took it for a spin to test the performance and the feel of the car. Let me start with the ‘feel’ of driving it. Probably most of you all out there who has been driving Wira, Saga, Iswara, or even Perdana would be shock. Why? I have drove BMW 3 series 1.8 before. Exactly the same feel. In terms of comfort at least. Went through few bumps here and there. Tested on small pot holes. This baby here love to eat the uncharming road and highways in Malaysia. Now that I call, ‘persona’ touch.

Straight to performance, without any exaggeration I would say the pickup was very good. As I made a smart choice by choosing a manual gearbox, gear one start slow. Then when you hit the second and third, your adrenaline just rush inside your heart then goes to your brain. I haven’t test it for maximum speed yet. But on normal roads, the bumpy and easy ride, I shoot at 150km, and it was smooth really. Damn, has Proton finally improved?

I would say yes! Sound dampening was awesome. You cant hear clearly the sound of Mat Rempit buzzing beside your car, as you overtake them. It was so quiet, you cant even hear a big lorry next to your right, trying to speed up because you are enjoying hearing the favorite song on your mp3 player. The speaker is very normal, you need to upgrade on that. The rest is light and easy. If I am exaggerating, probably you got a factory defect of your car while I happened to get the perfect Persona.

Next, on this project car, mo, mod, modi, modify la! First stop, sound system will be on the top list, oh and tinting window! Will post some picture of mine soon.

I am a happy man.
