American Muscle Car – Lumina SS V8

A week ago, I went to see this great friend of mine to get some shots of his car the Chevrolet Lumina SS, also known as the american muscle car in the US. Told him that we dont have this kind of cars in Malaysia. And he asked me “why friend?”. I said, “First of all, cars in Malaysia is damn expensive because of the bloody taxes, secondly we got to pay for road tax in M’sia according to your engine capacity”. And he was like shocked. Damn I was pretty pissed off as well.

But I was lucky to come here and get to watch all these beautiful cheap cars running around with their huge engine inside the hood, waiting to accelerate full speed ahead. I think its a good idea that I will try and put up few cars that we can never see in M’sia. Especially when you cant import those big american cars, because nobody want to pay road tax like RM5k per year just to own this car yeah. Ok, so no wasting time here. Lets get under the shade with this “Chevvy” monster car “Lumina”.

This car was the 2004 model of the great Cheverolet Lumina SS. With a massive 5.7 Litre inside a V8 engine, almost 350BHP, this car here can accelerate 0-100kmh in less then 5 seconds. Also known as the American Muscle Car, along with the Ford GT Mustang or the Chevvy Camaro, this car has a good traction control (like the F1 system) to control its steering ability at least when its taking corner. The sound of the exhaust is fantastic (no need modification here), well not so bad compares to the Mustang. I will do a review on Mustang later on if I got time. The inside is furnished with good leather and full bucket seat as well and equipped with 17″ rims. I am used to sports Japanese cars like the Evo or Impreza, but American car has different feeling when u ride it. The petrol consumption as u would guess is almost double then anything that you can imagine considering the 5.7 L petrol powered rear wheel driving. But overall, this car is has a very good performance as well as its comfortness while driving. The other day i tested this car from 0-200kmh, it took me around 25 seconds to do it. Its fast yeah. Oh I love fast car, get the adrenaline rush once in a while.

Well, I was just practicing some skills taking car pictures here. So might as well, I just use one my friend’s car- well at least he got to see how his car would look like getting in photos you know.
