Learning Night Fountain Shot

One Evening
Fountain: 5 secs, f/22, 18mm, ISO200, 1/3EV

Welcome to my first photography tip.

It is not so hard to snap a beautiful picture at night. What u have to do is wait for the golden hour. From Wiki:In photography, the golden hour is the first and last hour of sun during the day when a specific photographic effect is achieved with the quality of the light during these hours.

Today is the first day i spend time with my D40. And I waited just the right moment to snap a picture. Last night I spent the whole night reading the manual. Crazy eh…I know. Even after taking like 300+ pictures with it, the battery only shows that half of it has been use. Quite interesting life of battery. That includes some flash photo testing as well.

Ok so how to take a picture like you see here. Get a nice angle, put your camera to shutter priority mode, before anything please use a tripod if you have one. I discover that if you want to take still picture at low light, tripod is a must.

So we are set. Set the exposure at 5 seconds and if you want use the auto timer to minimize the blur when you press the shutter button (you might move the camera a bit), use it. Why do we use 5 seconds? This is to have the flow of fountain to be smooth looking like the picture u see here.

There you go.

Happy trying.
